Traffic Meter

Network speed and usage in your Mac’s menu bar

Traffic Meter shows your current download and upload speeds right in the menu bar. Click the indicator to open a compact panel and see how much data has been transferred through each connection.

Usage by connection

Check received, sent and combined traffic totals for today, the current month and the time since tracking began or the last reset. Connection statistics are saved on your Mac between app launches.

With permission to access Wi-Fi network names, the app distinguishes connections by name. The active connection is highlighted in the table, with its network interface’s IP address displayed alongside it.

Everything in one panel

Your data stays on your Mac

The app requires no account and includes no advertising or integrated analytics. Network statistics are stored locally and are not sent to the developer.

Location Services permission is used to obtain the Wi-Fi network name. Traffic Meter does not request geographic coordinates. Without this permission, Wi-Fi traffic is tracked by network interface rather than by network name.

How tracking works

Traffic Meter measures traffic while it is running. It does not recover usage from before launch or after you quit. Its readings may include local network traffic and may differ from your internet provider’s billing measurements.
